so how do i re size a file (pic) to the 256k max? I dont have any special photo software to do that kind o things yet...

Try this:

Get the Image Resizer and install it.  Then when you click on an image, you get a bunch of options as to what size to use.  I generally do 800x600.

a re sized pic
I also went to download.com and got faststone photo re sizer..also a free program.. it dose more then just re size a bit more complex and I will use both i'm sure!!

Here is a free program that you can use to resize your images before adding them to the forum.

Pix Resize

But with that said, I also use what Jared has mentioned. Both programs are free and do the job efficiently.
